How do I …?

  • see my roster of students?
    • check CUNYfirst under “faculty center” and navigate to the appropriate term/course
  • make copies, including bulk copies?
    • for single copies, use the department’s copier on HW 12th floor: ask the departmental office for the code and the code to access the room after hours, when it’s locked
    • these machines also have document scan capabilities: ask the departmental office for details
    • the Library in HE has dedicated book scanners that are even better for creating .pdfs from printed materials
    • for course packs and other large sets of documents, use Duplicating Services
  • put materials on reserve?
    • for printed materials, ask for help at the Library Circulation Desk
    • for e-reserves, consult this page
    • you can also share Library resources via stable URLs or in .pdf format via a Bb or CUNY Commons or other “learning management system”
  • schedule a visit to the Library?
    • Contact English’s departmental liaison, Jennifer Newman.
    • She can connect you to a wealth of other discipline-specific resources, including LibGuides targeted to specific courses, like this one for ENGL 252.
  • get some exercise?
    • With a Physical Activity Card, accessible via OneStop, you can use the small gym, the basketball gym, and the racquetball courts in the basement of HW, and the pool in the basement of HN. Pro tip: bike to work and use the showers in HW.
  • eat lunch?
    • In the building, there’s a “faculty club” on HW 8th floor, a cafeteria on the 3rd floor of HW, an empanada/coffee/smoothie counter by the Library in HE, and a cafeteria for students in HW on the 3rd floor.
    • Outside, there is a small array of trucks.
    • And lots of mostly overpriced options in the neighborhood: ask around.
